Mr. Muo of the novel’s title is a middle-aged man attempting to practice psychoanalysis in China. Recently returned from studying Freud and Lacan in Paris, Mr. Muo sets off on a secret quest to free his love interest, fronted by a quest to enlighten his country with his practices.
